How YOU can make a difference!

To live sustainably means living more intentionally, not being wasteful, and up-and-recycling as much as possible; and you can do this in many ways!

One way is by being creative with the items and materials you already have around you, such as reusing containers and boxes, composting or making tea with unused scraps, patching or altering your clothes, or even completely creating them into something else - the possibilities are endless!

Another way is being more intentional with where you buy and source various day-to-day items such as food, home supplies and goods, clothing and accessories, etc. There are SOO many small businesses in the US, with great missions and values, and care for their consumers.

POS1T1V1TY is here to uplift and empower the community to be more sustainable, whether it’s through DIY or supporting local and small businesses, we’re here to assist you with being your most sustainable you!

At POS1T1V1TY, we don’t want you to just buy from us, we want you to be sustainable and to support the community! In addition to offering resale & upcycled items and merchandise, we provide a full page of free resources for living a more sustainable life. From revamping/making your clothing to reusing everyday items around you, we want to assist you on your DIY sustainable journey!

We have also taken the time to compile the ultimate one-stop shop for small businesses across the US for you to discover and support. We want to support businesses that support the community, and are in turn supporting you!

We even go a step further in supporting our community by having a community spotlight of the month, where we highlight a business’ extra efforts towards sustainability and donate $1 of every purchase to them for that month. You can support our mission by making an appointment/visiting our pop-ups, shopping our merch, sharing our website & socials, or by donating items to our store. We appreciate you, your efforts, and your support; thank you!

Did you know?

Supporting the community in turn supports you!

”The Local Multiplier occurs when you spend your dollars at a locally owned and independent business instead of a chain store or online giant. Your dollars recirculate through your local economy 2-4 times more than money spent at a non-local company. As your dollars more through your community, the money generates more local wealth, charitable contributions, and jobs.”

AMIBA, American Independent Business Alliance

Being creative as a community supports the community!

WE-Making: How Arts & Culture Unite People to Work Toward Community Well-Being [a multi-faceted report authored by Metris Arts Consulting], shows that place-based arts and cultural practices, or creative placemaking, can help grow social cohesion to encourage community well-being… The report distills that social cohesion nurtures coordinated community organizing and can lead to increased community well-being… In cities, towns, and neighborhoods, arts-based strategies can contribute to greater social cohesion, health equity, and community well-being.”

Arts and Health, National Endowment for the Arts

Having a creative outlet is good for our health!

“Results indicate that art making resulted in statistically significant lowering of cortisol levels. Participants' written responses indicated that they found the art-making session to be relaxing, enjoyable, helpful for learning about new aspects of self, freeing from constraints, an evolving process of initial struggle to later resolution, and about flow/losing themselves in the work.”

Girija Kaimal, Kendra Ray, and Juan Muniz,“Reduction of Cortisol Levels and Participants' Responses Following Art Making” National Library of Medicine

We must be sustainable together!

“We each have a responsibility in how we live. Our daily actions inevitably affect the world around us and impart our environmental footprint… By living sustainably, we plan not only for our own well-being but also that of our neighbors and future generations…Intergenerational equity is an important concept that basically conveys that humans are part of a global community that includes all generations. Everyone has the right to inherit the same benefits and natural resources for equal access and use… Sustainability and social equity are deeply interconnected, focusing on creating a fair and just society while protecting the environment… When we use sustainable practices, more communities – especially marginalized ones – have better access to resources such as clean water and economic opportunities.”
